Mary Bridge Children's Courage: A Community of Courageous People
It takes Courage to support a loved one who is sick, especially when that loved one is your child, and it takes Courage to be poked with needles and meet so many new medical providers, especially when you are a child. It also takes Courage to ask friends and family to help raise money to ease the burden for these patients and families. That’s what makes Mary Bridge Children’s Courage so special – it’s not just a cycling event. It’s a community of Courageous people.
Ride for Kids.
Courage is a weekend cycling adventure benefiting patients and families served by Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Network. 100% of funds raised through Courage support one of the most impactful funds at Mary Bridge: Where the Need Is Greatest. It’s an unrestricted fund, available at the ready to support our children’s greatest medical needs. With these funds in 2017, we were able to distribute 1,842 child safety devices to families through the Center for Childhood Safety, provide 10,013 vaccines to 4,220 children through the Mary Bridge Mobile Immunization Clinic, administer 405 child abuse medical exams through the Child Abuse and Intervention Department, and much more. Ride with Courage.
From beginners to veteran cyclists, Courage has a ride for all experience levels. For those who prefer a shorter option, we have the 3.75-mile Rainier Fat Tire Ride & Run. If you don’t ride, you can run or walk this trail as well. Throughout the Greater Eatonville area, we have a 23-mile Cascade Cruiser and a 50-mile Tahoma Half Century. For the most adventurous cyclists, we have a 2-day, 144-mile Northwest Brew Thru, which starts in Centralia on day 1 and heads to Eatonville, then heads back to Centralia on day 2. If riding, running, or walking doesn’t peak your interest, you can sign up with our Virtual Rider option – no fundraising minimum, no registration fee, and no bike required! You’ll get to fundraise for Mary Bridge from the comfort of your own home.
Regardless of which ride (or run or walk) you choose, all are welcome to our overnight celebration in Pack Forest, Eatonville. We’ll have food, a beer garden, live music, yoga, games, kids’ activities, and free camping for all. We’ll also have a program where Mary Bridge patients will share their stories.
When you realize how much these kids need your support, fundraising for such a great cause will come easy. Join our Courageous community on August 25 and 26, and help us make a difference in children’s lives.
