Mary Bridge Children's Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID)

Every year, 2.9 million cases of child abuse are reported in the United States. It can happen to anyone and it can affect any family. When the unthinkable happens, Mary Bridge Children’s Child Abuse Intervention Department (CAID) is there for children and families when abuse is discovered. 

Donations from the community allow for every child (nearly 2,000 annually) to receive the services CAID offers with no cost to them or their family.

 CAID offers: 

• Medical treatment following sexual or physical assault
• Forensic exams
• Assistance navigating the legal system and accessing community resources
• Information and referrals for families

Now, more than ever, potential victims of abuse are in need of your support.

School closures and social distancing mean fewer teachers, school staff, and childcare providers are able to report cases of abuse and neglect. Many states have reported a sharp decline in calls to Child Protection agencies (40 to 60 percent) as these calls are typically made by members outside the immediate family.

In 2019, donors helped:

• 1,004 patients triaged by CAID, referring them to other services (i.e., forensic interviews and mental health support)
• Fund 500 forensic interviews 
• Fund 415 free physical exams
• 59 children receive care at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital
• 78 children from military families receive CAID services
