Mary Bridge Festival of Trees- "MODERN VAUDEVILLE" Tree
In 2009 my own family experienced the tragic loss of a loved one and we were referred to a Mary Bridge program that specialized in support groups for grief and loss for children and thier caregivers. We graduated the program and I say it changed our lives. Years later I am now a volunteer for the program and love helping others with thier own experiences like we went through. BRIDGES' motto is that, "No child should grieve alone," and I truly believe this.
Below, you can read more about BRIDGES, it is only one of the many programs that fundraisers like these support in our community...
BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children. The death of a parent, brother or sister is a life-changing and often devastating event for a child. BRIDGES exists because children grieve differently than adults. The goal is to help the child understand grief and improve child-parent interaction to prevent long-term emotional problems, physical symptoms, isolation and poor school performance. It is the only grief support program for children in Pierce County and serves the entire region, including military families.
Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital serves more than 250,000 children every year and depends on the generosity of the community to provide lifesaving care and services. About 65% of children served are on Medicaid – and even the best insurance has gaps in coverage. This fundraiser will ensure that all kids get the care and healing they need at Mary Bridge, regardless of ability to pay.
